Just load your machine with your clothes and detergent, pour your favorite Ultra Downy fabric softener up to the ball’s appropriate fill line, seal it, and drop it into the start of the wash on top of your clothes. It truly is a hassle-free way to soften your clothes in traditional washers.

The Downy Ball will float on top of the water during the wash cycle. Just before the rinse cycle begins, the washer’s spinning motion opens the Downy Ball which automatically releases the fabric softener in the rinse cycle. (Note: The Downy Ball is not for use in High Efficiency (HE) washers or in the dryer.) A little water left in the Downy Ball is normal. Simply pour it out before your next use.
The new Downy Ball has three fill lines, so you can measure the correct dose for each load. If you are using the old Downy Ball with new Ultra Downy, you could be overdosing.
Replace any prior Downy Ball with the new Downy Ball for proper dosage.
For optimal results, avoid overloading the washer. Overloading not only reduces the cleaning power of your detergent, but may inhibit the Downy Ball from releasing its contents completely.
